Because blogging about Chemistry is better than doing it...

Water is weird. I thought I would share that fun fact with you. Why is it weird you ask? Because ice floats. I know, you knew that already. But have you noticed that no other solid floats in it's liquid state? A chunk of solid aluminum would sink if put in liquid aluminum. But because ice makes a lattice-type formation, it is less dense than liquid water. This is important because things like glaciers are vital for regulating the environment, and make life on earth possible. Isn't God good?

So close I can taste it...

I'm sitting in calculus class, realizing that I have only two more classes and finals before I am done with my first semester of college. My first semester of college. It's crazy! This has been a tough semester, but also a lot of fun! I praise God for the friends I've made, the obstacles I've overcome, and the tough exams that made me work harder. I'm leaving in exactly nine days to spend a week at a mission in Lower Manhattan, NY. The physical preparations won't be difficult; it's the spiritual and emotional preparations that I'm worried about. I want to be humbled and blessed, but I want to bless others as well. I think this is going to be an eye-opening experience. Am I fit to be on this missions team? What is God's will for me on this trip? Have I been prepared for it, or is this God preparing me for something later on?

1 down (almost!), 7 more to go

Of my undergrad degree that is!

Things are going well here in Tigerland.  It's been a bit of a struggle, but God has strengthened me and allowed me to carry on.  My grades are not what they were in high school, but I've worked harder for these grades than I ever have before! I have classes for a few more days, then a trip to the 318 for Thanksgiving, after which I'll return to take finals and then leave for New York City!

I have many tasks to complete before the holiday, so I leave you with this:

"In this way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" Matthew 5:16

Love Purple. Live Gold.

Hello world! My life lately has been a bit of a whirlwind.  You see, I turned 18...

I then experienced the adult-world feeling of being laid off, only for God to provide me with another job just two days later...

MFuge had a County Fair theme night, so B and I dressed as Bonnie and Clyde one last time...

Sister started her freshman year in high school as a member of the Flagline of the Big Red Buccaneer Band...

And I packed my little blue car to start a new chapter here...
There is no doubt in my mind that this is where I'm supposed to be - it's where God wants me. It's been quite an adjustment, adapting to a new independence, a bit of homesickness, making new friends, and having to study for the first time ever. But I love it here, and I can't wait to see all that He has in store for me.  I've gotten plugged in at a church and with the BCM.  Oh, and the football doesn't hurt either :) ...

Can't wait to show you more of Tigerland and Baton Rouge, the places that are now a huge part of my life!

Life is a Never-ending adventure!!

What an incredibly eventful few weeks this has been!  To start off, last Monday (Feb 1), I came out of drill practice to find that my back windshield had been completely shattered.  One part was broken through, and the rest was shattered.  The school officer was already gone for the day, so I called the local police department and filed a police report. Security tapes were pulled, but because I was backed into my parking spot, they could only see the front half of my car.  It was a chilly drive home, and I was without my car for a week, because the window had to be ordered from the dealer.  My amazing friends drove me to school and home all week, and I was able to use my parents vehicles in the evenings.
The part on the right was the original hole, the left part fell in when I closed the door.  The officer knocked the rest of it in so it wouldn't scare me on the way home.

Wednesday also didn't fail to hold many exciting events. To begin with, Sax Kid (stupidly) gave me his car keys and then went to his 4th block class. I left as soon as the bell rang and moved his car to the opposite side of the parking lot and put the keys in B's gas tank and left.  With a few carefully worded texts, I had Sax Kid convinced that I had taken his car and gone on to town to run errands.  It took him about ten minutes to find his car, and a few more to find the keys.

Wednesday night was amazing in a whole other aspect.  It was Pancake and Pajama Night at church, so we played a few games and then had worship.  We were asked to spread out and get away from people - have a one-on-one with God.  I didn't know the last song, so I used that time to pray.  I felt B grab my hand and pull me to the front, and my heart swelled with joy.  B and Sax Kid both made salvation decisions, along with 5 other teens. God answered my prayers for B.  My God continues to stay in control and answer prayers :)

Thursday was school, then Spring Open house.  I got to talk to a friend that I haven't talked to in a while, and I always feel better after talking to him.

Friday was crazy! School, then B and I went to give blood. This was his first time and my fourth. I was eligible again that day, and he wanted to know how he reacts before the Spring School blood drive.

My arm while I was giving blood!

Neither of us had a negative reaction, and we recovered quickly. For another friend's birthday, we went to see Dear John that night.  If you've read the book, you'll be mad because things are changed, and that's all I'm going to say. Well, that and don't take any boys with you, especially ones who mock you and the movie.

Saturday was the Sadie Hawkins Dance! We got up early to go decorate the boys gym, then I went home and got dressed and my two wonderful dates picked me up!

That's Sax Kid on the left, and B on the right, and me on the seat.

We went to the park and hung upside down like bats!

Bonnie and Clyde!

We ate dinner and then went to the dance. We had a good time at Sadies, and now I can't wait for Prom and Military Ball!

Sunday was the Superbowl! BLACK AND GOLD!!! My family and I have been Saints fans for as long as there have been Saints, minus Dad, who is a Cowboys fan, but even he was pulling for Brees and Shockey on Sunday.   We had a small party at the house, and it was Louisiana style all the way - boiled shrimp and King Cake. As the world knows by now, the Saints won it.

This week has been a little quieter, including the quiet SNOWFALL we had all day and continue to get. We had a snowball fight today in the teacher parking lot after school, and the area is supposed to get another FIVE inches tonight, which will be beautiful to play in tomorrow.

Taken on my drive home today.

I love snow! And we get a four-day weekend because of it. I can't wait to play in it tomorrow - maybe this snow is God's sign of the amazing things to come this weekend at our D-Now weekend.
